SpuddyUK Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 My server has hung a few times now whereby I can ping it but I cannot connect to any of the docker services, cannot connect to the UI and cannot SSH in as it times out. It's headless. Will the logs be helpful after a reboot? Quote
JorgeB Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Enable the syslog server and post that after a crash together with fresh diagnostics. Quote
SpuddyUK Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) Hi. So I managed to configure so that previous syslog was available. I was updating a number of plugins and docker containers and bam, all my services went dark. I tried logging in via SSH but that timed out. I put a monitor on the server and tried logging in locally and that also timed out. In the end I needed to hard reboot. syslog attached; any assistance would be great. thanks. buzz-syslog-previous-20240917-1827.zip Edited September 17, 2024 by SpuddyUK Quote
JorgeB Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, but I see that a shutdown was initiated, did the server complete that? Quote
SpuddyUK Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 no, I hit ctrl-alt-del and it said it'd wait a maximum of 90 seconds for a graceful shutdown. but it exceeded that and I needed to hold the power button the end. Quote
JorgeB Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Since there's nothing logged, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.
