September 30, 20241 yr So recently I've started noticing VNC will just show a black screen. The VM itself will still be running and I can reach it via RDP thankfully. But setting up a new VM is very difficult if I can't reach the VNC until it hits the point of being RDP-able. Currently the only "fix" is to reboot the VM after force shutting it down and it'll be fine until the screen "sleeps" I think. At which point I won't be able to reach it again until I reboot again. Am I doing something wrong?
October 9, 20241 yr Try using a standalone VNC viewer, use the server's IP address and port 5900 for the first VM, 5901 for the second one started simultaneously, etc. If that works, then the issue is probably your web browser. As you alluded to, the VNC built in to the server is really only for setting up the VM, or managing things before the guest OS is able to start a nomachine or RDP session. It's not meant to be used as a daily driver interface, just management.
