November 22, 20241 yr Someone gave me their old media server and I decided recently to turn it into an Unraid server. It has an Supermicro X8DTL-IF motherboard and it so far it seems to work. So I installed Unraid on the system but for whatever reason it is not able to detect the drives. What should I do?
November 22, 20241 yr Community Expert Please post the diagnostics, also check to see if the drives are detected in the BIOS.

November 26, 20241 yr Community Expert You are using a RAID controller, those are not recommended, and usually need to create a raid0/jbod volume for each disk for them to be detected, but again, that's not recommended, if you change the controller you may lose data, I would recommend getting a recommended controller: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/102010-recommended-controllers-for-unraid/

Thanks. I will definitely look into getting a new controller.
