Frequent Freezing on 6.12.13

Featured Replies

I've started getting freezing relatively often on my unraid machine. It has been running for nearly a year at this point, and only really started in the past few months. Since the beginning of October, my server has frozen at least 7 or 8 times, at one point going 3 weeks without freezing, and other times doing so twice within a 24 hour period. I have enabled syslog logging, and do not see anything that seems obvious to me. I also installed a prometheus/grafana stack just to check and make sure there wasn't some kind of runaway, which can be seen in the logs of the later syslog. Unfortunately, that did not appear there either.

I have run the memtester plugin a few times and that has turned up nothing, and after this most recent crash I disabled C-state on my processor, although that shouldn't be a problem, as I'm on 6th generation intel and not early generation Ryzen from what I can tell has C-state problems. I also had one unassigned drive, as the drive was having smart issues. I just unplugged that in case it was related to any problems.

I have attached my most recent diagnostics file, and the two syslogs before the two crashes that happened yesterday. I do not know precisely when the earlier crash happened, but the later one happened at 18:41 system time.

If anyone could help me out and take a look to see if they notice anything, I would appreciate it, as I'm struggling to find anything that makes sense as a cause to me.

Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, there's an OOM event on the earlier log, but that's not usually a reason for a server crash, this can also be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.
