using proxmox-backup-server to backup unraid-vm under proxmox?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I'm running unraid within a proxmox-vm. Currently I installed the proxmox-backup-server on another machine but using it is not that easy to do.

As I do use ssds and hdds with unraid by controllers I do have passed through to the unraid-vm I cannot include the disks with the backup-job. The backup has to be done from within the vm to have access to the data. This can be done with the proxmox-backup-client (cli-tool for debian).

Is there someone having done this before or how do you do your backups while running unraid within a vm? What is the best practice to recommend? Does anybody know a little how-to to help me with converting deb-packages to slackware?

Kind regards,

Tom

Are you talking about backing up the VM running the Unraid install or the data within Unraid itself?

If you using ZFS, you can use sanoid/syncoid to replicate filesets to any other host with ZFS. I'm doing this. I running a PBS that is backuptarget for all vms/cts running on my Proxmox cluster, but also target for ZFS data(appdata mainly) from my virtual Unraid.
