Disabled Contents Emulated and New Parity Drive

Featured Replies

Hello,

I re-built my system today into a full computer case after damaging my Parity drive. I had a mid-size tower which has been upgraded over time. It was too crammed and when installing a video card, the SATA cable caught and damaged the parity drive SATA connection. I had a spare HDD to replace but decided to order a full size case, no point to risk more damage on a failing design.

I installed my new Parity Drive but Disk 2 has the error Device Disabled, Contents Emulated. I tried to remedy with a new SATA cable. Same error.

I believe you need the Parity drive to re-build or fix? Is it possible to fix in current situation? I have another old HDD that I can potentially replace the damaged PCB and re-use my parity drive. Any guidance is appreciated.

Well, I removed the broken connector on the PCB and swapped with an older drive. I think I am in the clear now, fingers crossed. I am currently rebuilding sdd since there has been no errors with the SMART reports. Once that is all up, I will swap the parity drive with a new one; original connector and all :)
