December 7, 20241 yr Hello, this is my first time posting so I'm sorry about the misunderstandings when it comes to networking; I'm a hardware person after all. Okay, so my ISP uses CGNAT and won't switch me over to a static IP, even when money is thrown there way. Basterds. Therefore, I use tailscale for remote access, which is okay for myself but not my friends wanting to use my Factorio or Minecraft worlds. I have setup a domain with cloudflare for some experimentation. However, as I understand it UDP - which many game connections rely on - is a enterprise option, which is a little outside my price range. My question, is there a way for my friends to access there game servers, "without" needing a separate programme like tailscale, cloudflare tunnel or wire gaured, to be installed? Thank you for any help that can be provided, and sorry if this has been ask before.

TBH, I'm not sure if someone even has done it but you could try to use a VPS with a static IP and then relay the traffic through the VPS and your friends connect through the VPS IP address or by server name. I haven't done this yet but maybe Tailscale in combination with a VPS would be a vaible and more easy solution but I assume you have to play around with iptables a bit to expose the ports to the Internet on the VPS. However I could be wrong about that and it is then as easy as forwarding the ports from your VPS.
