Kernel Panic - not syncing: CPU Context Corrupt

Featured Replies

I put together my new box, with the a Western Digital 1TB as parity and a Western Digital 6400AAKS to start.  When running format/parity i got nearly complete until thsi error stopped it:

CPU Machine 0: Machine Check Exception: 000000000000000004

Bank 4: b20000000000070f0f

Kernel panic - not syncing: CPU context Corrupt.

I'm running an Epox 9npa+ Ultra with an AMD 64 3000 chip.

Doing a google search for "Kernel panic - not syncing: CPU context Corrupt" came up with a few old threads but it looks to be some type of hardware problem.  One post it was the power supply another the memory and a third leaking capacitors on the mobo itself.

We'd could also use a system log if you can get to one.

Turns out it was an overclocking issue.  Once everything was back down to stock settings it worked.  Currently transferring data over to unRAID system (so happy!)

So after three days of uptime, i got the same error.  Is it best to replace CPU?  Mobo? Both?

I'm actually not home for a few days and can't get a log file, but based on what i've read things don't look good and I'm out in California near several Fry's locations.  I was thinking just spare the pain and get some new parts.

What do y'all think?
