Dropbox plugin bug

Featured Replies

I just installed a new drive in my unraid system, freshly and succesfully precleared. No errors in the preclear.

After the drive add I noticed that one of my shares was not showing all documents (only part of the files and dirs were in there), I checked the disk shares and the files were on the drive I would expect them to be on, so no data lost.)

The user share however does not show the files. I also noticed that I seem to have 2 user shares:

Users

and

users

I am positive I only created one of these. They both show the same data, the files located on disk3, however files are located on disk5 also and are not shown.

I figured the array might be confused somehow after the drive add (btw: drive was in the system allready, I only added to the array, no physical contact to the drives or cables, also this afternoon I checked smarthistory for all my drives and none were showing any issues).

I decided to give the array a restart. Restart did not complete and the system was not responding anymore, no web, no telnet, nothing. I waited 10 minutes and gave a hard reset.

System has come up but I still see the same issue with the one share, still not complete data.

System is now running a parity check and is finding a lot of errors (148 with 1% completed). I ran a parity check 2 weeks ago and nothing was wrong.

I have since migrated to 5.0b14 and am now worried something might be wrong.. I guess I will wait for completion of the parity check..?

Solved the fact that documents were not beiing shown... I guess for some reason the new share was created without a capital first letter.. Windows probaly does not check this and just took the first thing named "users" for truth.. Because I did not dare and delete the second share I have renamed to something else, the "Users" share on my windows machine now shows the correct data..

I just remembered that I installed the dropbox plugin yesterday... Could something have gone wrong with that wrt the second share ?  Something in setup ?

In the meantime parity check is still running and still finding heaps of issues...

log into the server and then chane directory to each disk in turn.

cd /mnt/disk1

mv users Users

cd /mnt/disk2

mv users Users

etc...

That will re-name all to have the same capitalization, and that matters on Linux.  they'll all then show as expected.

That will not work since there allready -is- a "Users" directory on that drive... :

total 43

drwxrwx--- 1206 nobody users 44456 Mar  3 10:46 Movies/

drwxrwx---  10 nobody users  320 Mar 24 12:54 Personal\ Video/

drwxrwx---    4 nobody users  104 Mar 11 15:21 Series/

drwxrwx---    4 nobody users  120 Mar 11 22:24 Software/

drwxrwx---    4 nobody users    96 Mar  9 06:33 Users/

drwxr-xr-x    3 root  root    72 Mar 30 14:28 aausers/

drwxr-xr-x    3 root  root    72 Mar 31 21:34 users/

The "aausers" is the previous "users"directory I wanted to get rid off, for some reason there is now -again- a "users" directory present that I did not create, some part of the system is creating this...

This also means that the contents of the "Users" share is now empty again on my windows machine.. Actually iy is not empty, there is a dropbox directory in there, this prooves that dropbox is responsible for creating the "users" directory..

The dropbox settings in the unraid console showed the name with no capitals so this was the cause, I have renamed it and restarted, I now see that dropbox is syncing in the "good" directory, I will remove the "wrong" one again, it should not come back.

I am guessing that the dropbox script is trying to be smart in creating a share if the dropbox data is pointed to a location that is not already shared... By not implementing something that takes care of the capitalization this introduces an issue on windows stations..

Damn.... It just happens again... For some reason dropbox is creating a "users" share in unraid where I allready have a "Users" share.. This really sounds like a bug...

I had something similar happened to me as well.  I hadve Movies and MOVIES.  Both had the same media files.  I ended up going to each drive and moving all of the media out of the MOVIES folder and in to the Movies folder.  Once all the drives were the same, I was able to delete the MOVIES folder and fixed the issue.

I did the same thing, but the "users" share will get recreated every time.. I can reproduce it... I will fix it tomorrow by simply renaming my share to "users" instead of "Users", but the bug is still there...

I renamed my own "Users" share to "users", if logic pervails then this should solve it for me.. Still think it is a bug though.
