Passing an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX's "Raphael" IGPU to a VM

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have been trying to pass the Raphael IGPU on my 7945HX CPU (only GPU) to a VM so that I can use the NAS as a TV box as well. Ideally I would like to run Steam OS in the end, From what I have read the IGPU should be supported by Steam OS but I digress. At the moment I'm just trying to get it to work with any OS...

I have assigned the IGPU to the VM, and when the VM is started the HDMI out does black from the normal Unraid Terminal. But the VM never shows video... If I assign a second VNC GPU and boot Manjaro it can see the IGPU, but it only sees it as an unknown ATI device... So it would appear that it is being passed but does not work?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

What motherboard are you using? Does the VM need drivers for a Radeon 610M?

It’s a MINISFORUM BD790i,

perhaps, but shouldn’t I still be getting basic video out? VGA 2D mode?

I think so, but I've never tried to pass an iGPU, only a separate GPU (and it was always an NVIDIA GPU). Early on, I had to make sure the correct drivers were available both on my system and in my VM, but that was years ago - so I'm not sure anymore.
