unRAID 4.7 Server Woes [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm having some trouble with one of my unRAID servers and I thought I would post my syslog here in the hopes that someone could help me isolate the problem.

A little background:  Last night I ran a parity check and by the time it finished it reported 202 sync errors that were corrected.  I figured I would reboot and run another parity check to ensure that everything was OK but when I reboot, the server goes into an endless reboot loop and the unRAID OS never fully starts back up.  It does show the "Loading bzimage/bzroot...." message on the console with the dots after it while it's rebooting, but then the screen goes blank and it keeps rebooting itself over and over again.

I tried running memtest from the console at bootup and this test passed successfully (2 passes).

Attached is the syslog that I saved just prior to this problem. Hopefully it will help shed some light.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Run check disk on the flash on a Mac or PC.

I stuck the unRAID USB key in my Windows 7 laptop and it prompted me to format the key. I hit "cancel" then stuck it in my Windows 7 desktop machine and it was able to recognize the key just fine.  Chkdsk ran successfully on the key with no errors.

I seem to have a bad USB flash drive.  Booting from the suspected bad key results in a kernel panic every time.  I purchased a new flash stick and unRAID boots just fine from the new one.

I emailed Tom 24-hours ago asking if he could please re-issue my license to match the GUID of my new key.

New license key received (thanks Tom) and the server is booting normally now.

I'll mark this issue as resolved in the hopes that it'll be smooth sailing from here on out!  :)
