April 19, 201214 yr I have 3 in my server running strong for a year now. Hopefully the quality does not suffer after being bought by segate.
April 20, 201214 yr I have about 30 F4's in RAID5 & RAID6 arrays running since 10/10.. not a single issue with a single one funny thing is. this is the same price i paid way back then..
April 20, 201214 yr I have 10 of these babies in my unRaid system as well, but they are the Samsung variety. I actually ordered two of the above just 10 days ago (for $129 ) and they are the newer Seagate variety. The NewEgg feedback shows problems with some recent drives, but the two I got seem to be doing okay. No DOA, and each has completed a full pre-clear cycle. They're on round 2 right now ... so far, so good. I'm somewhat tempted to buy more since the price is good, but it makes more sense to space out drive purchases to keep a variety of manufacturing times in the system. Anyway, I don't know that I actually *need* more drives right now, just wanted to have a few spares ready to go, if/when something happens. I should really hold off, since prices will probably continue to go down anyway.
April 21, 201214 yr how are the Seagate flavor different? I'd like to have identical drives when mine start to fail.. I am considering buying 2 or 3 and doing a burn in test. then put them aside for spares for my hardware raids. I am sure some of my F4's are getting a bit worn. I had some spares that i used during the "flood prices". now i am to lazy to move the data off those drive and re-pool them into spares.

April 21, 201214 yr unRaid reports the Samsung 2TB drives as " SAMSUNG_HD204UI_S2H7JD6B######", where the Seagate ones are "ST2000DL004_HD204UI_S2H7J9GC######". I doubt you can buy the Samsung variety anymore, unless you go used. I would have also liked to stay with a consistent product line, but I guess when it comes to Raid, variety is probably better for overall system reliability.
April 24, 201214 yr I just received one of these and they are labeled as Samsung, Model: ST2000DL004, HDD P/N: HD204UI and also have www.seagate.com and Barracuda Green on the label. I wonder if this is what Seagate is going to use to cover the Green 5400 RPM market segment, since I understand that Seagate was switching to 7200 RPM for their drives. Anyway, I just checked the warranty for the drive here: http://support.seagate.com/warranty and it expires 3-28-2013 and the drive was manufactured on 3/2012, so only one year. That wasn't what I was expecting. I thought I read that Seagate and WD had lowered their warranties on green drives to 2 years. Now I see that it's only 1 year for Seagate green drives - http://www.storagereview.com/western_digital_and_seagate_cut_hard_drive_warranty_lengths I should've done more research, but I checked Newegg's page on this drive and it showed and still shows a 3 year manu warranty on the detail tab: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245
April 25, 201214 yr bw1: Thanks for posting your experiences with the recent copy of this drive. I was strongly tempted to try a Seagate branded drive again and a Samsung for the first time. But, hearing that the warranty is now a mere one year means I'm going to pass for now.

I'm still debating about returning this and getting a WD20EARX from Amazon for $10 more - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VFJ9MK
