rsync vs borg for backup to an external drive?

Hello! 

I came across the UD plugin and it has an rsync script to backup the shares to an external drive.

I wonder if someone is using borg for the task and if so, can you please share the details? or point me to any resources are there?

also, is there any advantage or downside to using rsync over borg or vice versa?
