Hello! I am looking to backup my UnRaid shares to an external HDD. What do I need ssh keys for? If i want to encrypt my backup, is it ok if i use a pass-phrase as opposed to a ssh key? What are the steps to restore a backup? If i want to test whether the backup is working? If i want to extract an encrypted repository - (say from an external Hdd which i used for backup) in another host machine, (say my windows or mac laptop) should i use the same pass-phrase which i used while taking the backup?

Hello! I came across the UD plugin and it has an rsync script to backup the shares to an external drive. I wonder if someone is using borg for the task and if so, can you please share the details? or point me to any resources are there? also, is there any advantage or downside to using rsync over borg or vice versa?

All, I have been looking for some automation that can backup data from the Unraid NAS to an external HDD Some say they use duplicati. Some say they don’t like duplicati and prefer rsync or reclone. Can someone share the script(s) they might be using to achieve such automation as when an external drive is connected, backup data from the storage array into the external HDD? There are many posts that mention these options but ultimately lack the script. Without the script, those posts don’t offer much help! thanks!
