I have 5 coming, i will likely keep them- how is use case for unraid? i mainly write once and leave stuff on the server running 24x7 - other than parity checks i don't know that it would be that active, however starts and stops could affect life?  anyhow what are your thoughts on these?

If your use case is mostly write-once and 24/7 storage (like media or backups), these drives should work well with Unraid. They're great for cold storage, and as long as you’re not doing constant write-heavy tasks, they’ll hold up fine.

I’d recommend shucking them and connecting via SATA rather than relying on USB as it is much more stable long term. Just double check if they’re CMR (ideal) vs SMR (not great for parity or frequent writes). Also, try to minimize frequent spin-up/down cycles to extend their lifespan.
