ok, i think its a USB problem of some sort. I tried to install an internal USB plug in for my unraid usb stick but the server wouldnt even turn on, like no power, nada, zilch. i removed it and it started right away.

sortly after i started seeing these issues.

i was able to manually copy the syslog and save it, it is attached.

also attached is a fresh syslog after.

I think my USB ports are brain farting.

first steps, remove the two WD20EARS that were installed just before this happened. they weren't added to the array yet but maybe the power draw is too much.

anyways i'll monitor it for a few days and see what happens from there.

...well that didnt last long. it just happened again without those two extra drives installed.

i think i fried the USB ports on this thing :(

i have a spare mobo that will work, but its only got 4 SATA ports. guess I need a sata card now too.

another update.

I took the USB key and plugged it into my laptop and I got a "device could not be installed correctly". So i'm HOPING just my stick is fried. I have another that i will try.

i think i fried EVERY USB port on my motherboard :(

im going to disable them all and try a USB PCI card (for $6.99 why not try that first). if that works then im set, otherwise i need to obtain a new mobo and likely sata card since my current board has 8 ports and its not likely the replacement with a 775 cpu slot will.

I've never had any luck booting USB from an add on card. Maybe if you use a sata boot disk and just use the USB stick for the license file...
