May 12, 20251 yr I am having an issue's accessing certain unraid video shares in plex. I have the usual shares of Movies, TV Show, Music. I can see these in plex when managing or editing Library Files. These 3 Library folders show-up in plex folder as "/data/movies". The only files that show-up in this data Folder is Movies, TV Shows & Music. I have other shares like Education, Documentary, Exercise, etc. which are not in the /data/ folder and I am unable to get them there. I tried mapping the folder with "/mnt/disk7/Education" but this does not work, plex does not SEE these files. The only files plex SEEs are those in the /data/ folder. How do I get plex to see all my shares? Thanks for any help Tim N
May 12, 20251 yr Community Expert step 1 seems complete... mby.... You need to template path map your files from unraid you want on plex. so In my Data folder I have TV_Shows, Movies, Music and subfolder to help classify and clarify. step2 unsure if you did it correctly or not enough info provided... You Tell plex to load content from these folders. Example: There is a different folder structure for movie/videos vs TV Series. TV series will need the content name then season 1 and the file name with in will need similar data such as s01e01 for plex to auto-detect and load idbm like video movie tv data... you can add multiple folders under 1 roof or each folder is a separate movie/tv library but should be able to folder structure and setup your folder to accomplish a separation of genres/shares Quote Education, Documentary, Exercise this means in your data folder, you first need to create the folder structure and hierarchy. /data/Movies -Education --video name file.mp4/mkv --etc file.mp4 -Documentary --etc file.mp4 --etc file.mp4 etc and so forth /data/TVShows -Education --TV Show Name ---Season 1 ----etc file name s01ep01.mp4 ---etc file name s01ep02.mp4 (so plex will see full data path in the docker as /data/TVShow and load all sub folders and content...) plex content full file is at /data/TVShows/education/TV Show name/season1/filename s1e1 This way you can use plex folder view to find content as seen below: so data in the docker but Plex needs told to use that data... see plex doc creating libraries: Edited May 12, 20251 yr by bmartino1 typo-data
May 12, 20251 yr Community Expert Solution in your case, since they are shares already. I recommend the ladder so example "/mnt/disk7/Education" in the plex template you will need to add multiple additional path to make a docker container path point to a unriad folder path so click: example for education this will mean that the plex docker will have a folder called and located at /education and be maped to the contents of the unrid folder share education... repeat for each folder share you made this way... so, when in the plex application within the docker, I can go to docker path /education and see the unraid education share and its contents. then in plex tell the movie library to search that folder. by adding education folder to my exising movies library This way education adn documentaries will be under one plex library... In my case 2 folders are added to my BMM-Movies library so content form both plex docker container path load the content form the mapped unraid folder share... Otherwise, I can add a new library and only mount education to the education library you may need to fix your folder shares and structures... --Useful if making a kids account and wanting to separate libraries between shared users. May 12, 20251 yr Author Wow Brilliant, Thanks so much for such a complete answer. Adding the path configuration in unraid is what I am missing. Tim N
May 12, 20251 yr Community Expert Cool. Glad its working for you. You can sub folder them as well. I don't recommend docker map sharing something to /data if you do sub folder sharing, but you could make a docker placeholder at /data/sharename that way they all appear in the data folder per this example. Then tell plex to load the data folder.
