May 12, 20251 yr I have two data disks in my array and I have set my "Media" share config to have only Disk 1 included but I noticed the my "Streaming" and "Streaming Prep" folders within the Media share have a Location column that indicates "Disk1 Disk2" as the Location for Media files (see pictures). What does this mean? Do I really have Media files on Disk 2 or not? I may have previously had the config set to include "All" disks but I always had high-water allocation set and never reached 1/2 of Disk 1 capacity which I think means that no files will have been written to Disk2 yet. So, Do I actually have media files on Disk 2? If I do have files on Disk2 how can I find them? It will be hard to do with the Shares browser since, confusingly, none of the Streaming or Streaming prep files and folders the very next level down indicate Disk1 Disk2 in the Location column - they all indicate Disk1 only leaving me guessing where to look next! You would think that if there were a Disk2 file buried somewhere in a folder deeper down that the parent folders all the way up would indicate Disk 1 Disk2 in the Location column.
May 12, 20251 yr Community Expert Instead of browsing from the Shares tab you can try browsing from the Main tab and select disk2 to look directly at it. If you see any files for the share there you can them move them manually to disk1. If there is just an empty folder then you can delete that to clear both disks showing as a location for the share.
May 12, 20251 yr Author Thank you so much, that solved it! For others novices like me still learning the basics: Looking at Disk2 directly showed the Media Folder and within that showed both Streaming and Streaming Prep folders, and within each of those, IN MY CASE, there were no files (see pics ) so I didn't need to move any files before deleting the Media folder from Disk2. I just deleted the Media folder from Disk 2, which also corrected the Media Share to no longer include Disk2 under the Location column for the Streaming and Streaming Prep folders (see the last pic below compared to pic in original post). It makes sense now that the Media Share and its Streaming and Streaming Prep subfolders included disk2 in the location column because I indeed had those folders on Disk2. And it also now makes sense that going the next level down and looking inside the Streaming and Streaming Prep subfolders on the Media Share showed files and folders with a Location of Disk1 only - because the Streaming and Streaming Prep folders on Disk2 were empty. After deleting the Media folder from Disk2, the Media Share only shows a Disk1 location:
