Replaced nic. Unable to see UNRAID server

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am using a Dell Optiplex Gx280. The onboard nic died and I have now disabled it in the bios. I added in a D-link gigabit nic which was a *close* match to the D-Link model that I saw under supported hardware. I am also using UNRAID 4.7.

After replacing the nic, the server is no longer on the network. I have link and activity lights on the card and the router. I have included the syslog in the hopes that someone can tell me where is the point of failure in the network process. I think this is probably a simple issue, however, I am not well versed with Linux.

Thank you in advance!

Additionally, my network.cfg file looks like this. It worked before! (Famous words in IT right? ;-)

What is the output of "ethtool eth0" and "ifconfig"?

From your syslog unraid is finding 'a' card and loading the tg3 driver to give the eth0 device. So on the surface it looks fine.

As well as the above suggestion, can I ask some silly questions :

- You've definitely plugged the cable into the correct, new card?

- Similarly you've disabled the correct card in the BIOS?
