June 24, 20251 yr I am currently evaluating Unraid 7.14. I have created an SSD pool called VMS for my virtual machines and containers. The pool consists of two WD 2TB SSDs in a StarTech M.2 SATA SSD adapter. The adapter is configured to provide a hardware RAID 1 solution so that the computer sees a single 2 TB SSD. This has been used for years in a Windows environment. When it is installed with Unraid, it works perfectly until you shut down the server. On boot up, the device appears to be missing as per the screenshot. I am speculating that it somehow changes its ID, and Unraid can't identify it, and hence it appears to be missing, but a new device appears. Does anybody have any ideas on how to recover from this situation? Can I for example, from the command line, re-assign the device ID to this particular pool? How can I stop this from happening in the future? If it is an issue with the StartTech adapter, is anybody using something else to implement a hardware SSD configuration which works with Unraid? All suggestions appreciated, as currently I have lost 5 VMS and all dockers so not too impressed at the moment. Thanks
