Unraid 7.1.4 shrink an array - zero drive first?

Featured Replies

I previously had followed a guide, when running Unraid 6.### that went through the process of zeroing out the drive that was going to be removed so that parity would remain current for the array when the unneeded drive was being removed from the array (shrinking the array).

With Unraid 7.1.4 is it still possible to do that?

I'd rather not have to go without parity but I know that doing that would be the fastest way to get through the process. I'm working to remove 3 smaller drives from my array. Eventually I may grow the array again by adding some larger drives in but one step at a time, starting with losing the unneeded smaller drives.
