VM Passthrough Question

Featured Replies

Hey,

If I use the 'Bind Selected To VFIO At Boot' option for GPU/Audio, as referred to HERE;

Will this prevent my Immich & Emby Servers from accessing the GPU for Transcoding?

Or will both my VM, and Unraid Apps be able to share the GPU? (UR 7.1.2)

Thanks!

If you bind to vfio GPU is not available to the host and containers.

Which GPU do you have as there is a new option in 7.2 for virgl3d which does allow vms and containers to use the GPU. But the VM cannot use the monitor. You would need to use remote access but will use the GPU for video acceleration. Currently only Intel and AMD are supported, or Nvidia if you use the Nouveau driver.

Thanks @SimonF

I have a Nvidia Quadro P2000. I use it for transcoding, but wanted to try a PopOS Gaming VM also.
