September 15, 2025Sep 15 After many years of having my server tucked away serving my Plex, it's time to blow out the dust and upgrade. Well many of the docker and such I had back then, give me errors that I need an updated version to update and just ignore me. My thoughts are to upgrade to the last 6 version (6.12.?) but I'm not exactly sure what I'm going. I'm not going to 7 version, on this server, I have 3, trying to stay cost effective. I'm getting older here, so from what I've read I should back-up my files, flash the version that I want (where in the heck do I get that?), make sure my drives are in the right location and boot 'er up. Plex is probablymy main concern. I guess I should delete the dockers and plug-ins that no longer update because of being out-dated and reinstall with the new OS upgrade?I just don't want to lose all my media, took too many years to collect. Thanks for any tips or hints - kristisdad

September 21, 2025Sep 21 Author My final checklist here before I puse the button! Made sure my drives are in the right position as I switched my Marvell card to LSI.I backed up my version of 6.5 as a zip file, just in case. I think I read I should also backup the config file to insert into the new version as that contains my GUID? A parity check hasn't been done in over 1200 days (server's been off), should I do one under 6.5 or wait until 6.12 running? So I've decided to go to 6.12.6, I've downloaded the zip file ready to go. My media files are xfs and my parity drive is formatted bfrts, any problems there?I have no dockers, VM's or apps, as they couldn't be updated so I deleted them, basically all I use is Plex which I can reinstall after the update, if I make that far!Am I missing anything? Thanks-kristisdad
