USB stick seen, but not bootable after server upgrade

Featured Replies

I was doing a bit of a major server upgrade, replacing my motherboard, CPU and memory for better...

The new build powers up but won't seem to boot off the USB stick. It SEES the USB stick, but it won't boot off it. It will boot off another Linux USB I had lying around, so it's not the system. However, I'd rather not wipe this stick if I don't have to. Is there a way to try to get this bootable again? Is there a way to recover if the drive itself is readable?

Any help would be appreciated! I'd rather not have to step through the full rebuild again.

Bah.

Bah.

If the last system did not UEFI boot you will need to do the following.

Check the EFI directory on the flash exists. If it is EFI- rename.

Also make sure the FAST BOOT option in the bios is disabled.

You sir are glorious. Thank you SOOOO much. Booted right up after that. I was amazed such a simple solution was to be had.

Windows Subsystem for Linux was really nice to have too. :)
