Write corrections to parity issue

Featured Replies

Hello all. Im new to unraid and had a question about the dashboard. There is an option that says "Write corrections to parity". I've read that it is generally something to turn off. In the parity scheduler I have it set to NO. However on the MAIN tab the "Write corrections to parity" is checked. I uncheck it and after refreshing the page it comes back. How do I make sure it is off?

That checkbox is related to the "Check" button to the left of it. When you "Check" the parity you can let it check only (checkbox off) or you can have it write any corrections it notices while checking (checkbox on). If you run a manual "Check" (by clicking the button) you might want to run it without making any corrections first (checkbox off). If the check comes back and tells you that corrections should be made then you can decide to run it again with the checkbox on.

As a programmer, I'm used to having a "test" or "check" mode that allows me to run the program without committing any data/changes. I see the results and if I like what I see then I run it again in "commit" mode.

The latest recommendation is that write corrections should always be on, but the setting on main only affects a manually started parity check, not the scheduled ones.
