Server keeps freezing/crashing

Featured Replies

Hi,

For the last week my server has started crashing/freezing out of no where. With AI's help the longest I have had it back online is 72 hours. I have run 5 passes of the memtest and it all passed. All that changed prior to this crashing is that I had to remove my parity 1 drive because it was dying and now my array is running with just parity 2. Running analysis with AI can't seem to find what is wrong, and i have scoured reddit for hours so any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is any other info needed please let me know.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K

Very possibly be the Intel 13/14 gen issue, looks for a BIOS update; it may help if the CPU is not too far gone.

I updated the bios at the time the fix came out, was a brand new chip at the time. And I just updated it again today because I thought why the hell not.

Any other recommendations or troubleshooting steps? Or just replace the CPU?

Because Memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, and if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM, if the issues persist after that, it's very likely the CPU IMO, there have been many confirmed cases with that and similar K models, which are by far the most affected.

Intel has a Windows tool you could run, but there have also been confirmed cases of the tool not detecting issues, but replacing the CPU still solving the problem.

Alright. I’ll see how long the server lasts with the new bios for now. And then I will try what you have said in descending order. Thanks for your timely input.
