Best mobo and cpu options

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm starting to plan out my next inside build and would like some input on the best mobo and CPU combos. I currently have unpaid running on a tuf x570 and a 5900x with 128GB DDR4 ECC ram and a rtx3070 gpu. I will be moving to location without high speed fiber Internet so I am planning on migrating my build into a server rack chassis and running it at a friend's house with 5GB fiber optic.

Is it worth switching over to Intel such as a 12900 and a z790 mobo? Ideally I'd like to keep my ddr4 ram but I'm open to ddr5 if the gain is worth the cost.

Will probably be building this in a u4 server chassis with 24 hot swappable 3.5 bays. I prefer performance and reliability over budget friendly

Before you get too far, price out RAM if you don't buy it right away, budget and plan on it going up another 25% plus sooner than we all would like. It's increasing faster than the stock market and gold prices combined.

Not sure what your use case is, but being that your screen grab shows Sonarr Intel is the preferred option if you plan on running Plex on that box due to the integrated Quick Synch graphics chip available on many of their chips.

Again use case makes a difference but DDR4 is a pretty good option and plenty fast, especially when you factor in the current price of RAM.
