Server visibility on network after home move

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently moved home, which lead to my ISP providing a new Modem/Router combo (let's note that it had previously been replaced without issues as far as Unraid is concerned), and since setting up the new local network, things are behaving weird. My Unraid server is set with a fix, IPV4 only, /24 address as path are IP defined (and not tower.local variables). The server is directly plugged into the 2nd Ethernet port of the router.

  • I can access the Unraid GUI from a laptop on the network. The UI is responsive and the server is connected both to the local network and to the internet. Shares are accessible sometime (see below)

  • The router GUI is seeing activity on the port, but doesn't list the server under the connected clients.

  • Worst, it seems that because it doesn't see it, the IP isn't excluded from DHCP availability. This leads to other devices being given the IP, breaking the connection to the server from other devices.

Other posts about this kind of issue point to submask difference. I checked and both the router and the server are /24. I do not know where to look. Unfortunately, because the router doesn't list the server, I cannot give it a fixed lease from the router side (I cannot manually enter a MAC address, only select existing!...). I'm considering getting a dedicated router, but this would probably require switching ISP as current doesn't allow bridge mode easily on their devices.

Remove the static IP, reboot the NAS and let DHCP assign an IP, then set a new static IP or DHCP static assignment (preferably outside of DHCPs IP range)
