March 3Mar 3 Hi Unraid Team,I would like to submit a feature request regarding VM icon management in Unraid.Currently, VM icons can only be selected from predefined system directories, and custom icons require either:• Placing files inside system-managed folders that may be overwritten• Manually editing VM XML metadata• Overriding built-in template iconsThis differs significantly from the Docker implementation, where users can easily define custom icons directly in the GUI.Requested Improvement:Please add native support for custom VM icons through the GUI, similar to Docker containers. Ideally one or more of the following options:Allow selecting a PNG file from a user-defined folder (e.g. /mnt/user/...)Allow uploading a custom icon directly in the VM edit interfaceAllow specifying an icon via URLProvide a persistent, user-safe icon directory that is not overwritten during updatesRationale:• VM icons should not require XML editing for customization• Users should not need to override system files• Icons should persist across reboots and updates• The experience should be consistent with Docker container managementHaving to “host” custom VM icons or manipulate system folders feels unnecessarily complex for what should be a simple UI-level customization.Thank you for considering this improvement.
