How to stop VM machine type update to default 8.0 on each boot?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After upgrading my Unraid server to 7.3.1, the default VM machine type changed to Q35 8.0.

My macOS VM only works with Q35 6.0, but every time I reboot the server, the machine type is automatically changed back to Q35 8.0.

Is there a way to permanently lock the VM to Q35 6.0 and prevent Unraid from updating it on each boot?

Thanks,

wing

See this post. I can look to provide something you can put into a user script but when qemu gets update through releases it will drop support 6 is already deprecated.

That makes sense. Thanks! It would be awesome if you could provide & share a user script that automatically fixes this issue.

I created a User Script that automatically reverts the VM machine type from Q35 8.0 to the deprecated Q35 6.0. Feel free to use it if you're running into the same issue.
