Moving from a Single Drive to Multiple in the Future with UNRAID

Featured Replies

Hi All!

If I have a single 10TB drive in a UGREEN NAS (without UNRAID) and add an additional drive in the future, what is the process to convert to a pooled drive with UNRAID? Is this a relatively easy process?

Is it recommended to start with 2 drives from the get-go or is it fine to start with a single drive and expand in the future?

Sincerely appreciate the guidance and insight as a newbie.

You can have a single drive, but you won't have any redundancy until you have at least 2 drives. Normally, HDDs go in the Unraid array, with one disk as parity.

Lots more detailed information in the Unraid Docs linked at the top of the page.

Or just ask here if you have some specific questions.
