This thread provides support for the Minisforum N5 EC / IT5571 Driver, a hardware-specific hwmon driver for the Minisforum N5 (F8NAA mainboard, ITE IT5571 embedded controller).

The plugin downloads the kernel-matched package from GitHub Releases (currently Unraid 7.3.2 / 6.18.38-Unraid), installs it, and loads the module. A WebGUI page under Settings → User Utilities shows live fan/temperature data (refreshes every 3 seconds).

Recommended companion plugins

• FanCtrl Plus 2 (fan control): CPU Temp → CPU Fan, NVMe group → SSD Fan, array-disk group → HDD Fan Group, NVIDIA GPU / PCIe auxiliary temp → PCIe Fan. Do not run FanCtrl Plus, FanCtrl Plus 2, or another controller against the same PWM concurrently.

• Dynamix System Temperature (temperature display): select CPU Temp and System Temp; optionally Board Temp and Ambient Temp.

Notes

• The module matches uname -r exactly and refuses to load on non-N5/F8NAA systems (DMI check).

• On unload/removal, all fan channels are restored to EC/BIOS automatic mode (with duty-cycle clamping for safety).

• PCIe Fan was physically validated: pwm4=0 stops the fan, pwm4=255 reliably starts it at full speed. The IT5571 has three tachometer counters; this board firmware exposes only three RPM inputs.

When requesting support, include

Hi! Trying to get smarter fan curves on a Minisforum N5 Air, no luck with the usual advice for Dynamix/IT87 drivers and came across this. Sadly it won't install on the N5 Air because it detects a different mainboard. Based on reviews i believe the N5 and N5 Air use mostly the same components? Except for the 10gbit NIC. Is it possible that this plugin would also work on the N5 Air if the F8NAB mainboard was also allowed?

Hi @Squid, just a gentle follow-up on my Community Applications request above (Minisforum N5 EC / IT5571 Driver). The plugin is ready: the .plg URL is live and kernel-matched .txz packages are published on GitHub Releases. Also worth noting — an N5 Air user has already asked about F8NAB mainboard support in this thread, so there is real community demand for this driver. Hi! Thanks for the report. The current driver has only been hardware-validated on the Minisforum N5 with DMI N5 / F8NAA.

N5 Pro systems also appear to use F8NAA, so support is likely possible after confirming that their IT5571 EC/PMC register layout and fan-channel mapping match.

The N5 Air identifies as N5A / F8NAB. Although the hardware is related, F8NAB uses a different board/BIOS revision, so I do not want to simply whitelist it and enable PWM writes without validation.

Please do not force-load the current driver. Could you provide the output of:

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/{sys_vendor,product_name,board_vendor,board_name,bios_version,bios_date}
lspci -nn
sensors

I’ll provide a read-only IT5571 compatibility probe next. If the EC temperature and PMC fan-read protocols match, F8NAB can be added as a separate N5 Air profile, followed by a controlled physical PWM test.

Excited to see someone figure out how to get this working. It fails to install for me since I'm running the 6.18.47 kernel with 7.4 beta. Would you consider whitelisting all 6.18 builds?
