I am currently running Version 5.0-rc5.

I have 5 2 TB drives - 4 Data and 1 Parity.

I would like to add a 3 TB drive and make it the Parity drive and make the existing Parity drive a Cache.

What is the easiest way to do this?

stop the array

power down

install the new drive

power up

stop the array

assign the new drive to the parity slot

start the array (check the I'm sure button)

Let it calculate parity

Stop the array

Assign the old parity as cache.

Start the array.

 

that was easy!

Don't forget to preclear the new disk before adding it as your parity drive.
