[SOLVED] "No space left on device" error creating user shares (5.0rc5)

Recommended Posts

I've just put an additional HDD into my Unraid Server, formatted the disk. The share name I am trying to create is "Backup" and on disk19 (2TB free space)

On trying to create a Share I get the following error:

Jul  1 12:40:40 NAS-03 emhttp: Restart SMB...

Jul  1 12:40:40 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (70): killall -HUP smbd

Jul  1 12:40:41 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (71): ps axc | grep -q rpc.mountd

Jul  1 12:40:41 NAS-03 emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (71): exit status: 1

Jul  1 12:40:41 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (72): /usr/local/sbin/emhttp_event svcs_restarted

Jul  1 12:40:41 NAS-03 emhttp_event: svcs_restarted

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (73): mkdir '/mnt/user/Backup'

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 shfs/user: shfs_mkdir: assign_disk: Backup (28) No space left on device

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (73): exit status: 1

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (74): :>/etc/samba/smb-shares.conf

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: Restart SMB...

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (75): killall -HUP smbd

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (76): ps axc | grep -q rpc.mountd

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (76): exit status: 1

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp: shcmd (77): /usr/local/sbin/emhttp_event svcs_restarted

Jul  1 12:41:08 NAS-03 emhttp_event: svcs_restarted

I've never had this issue on prior releases and it is the first time I have tried to create a share on RC5

Note: I've replaced the onboard Realtek NIC with a PCIe Intel NIC - other than that my hardware has not changed since moving to RC1

Syslog attached

thanks

Alex

Have you tried rebooting and then making the share again - am running RC5 and just did the following:

Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (119): mkdir '/mnt/user/test share'
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (120): chmod 770 '/mnt/user/test share'
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (121): chown nobody:users '/mnt/user/test share'
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (122): :>/etc/samba/smb-shares.conf
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: Restart SMB...
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (123): killall -HUP smbd
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (124): ps axc | grep -q rpc.mountd
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (124): exit status: 1
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp: shcmd (125): /usr/local/sbin/emhttp_event svcs_restarted
Jul  1 12:49:31 Tower emhttp_event: svcs_restarted

No problems here....

Try and reboot and see what happens then

Already tried rebooting. This log is from after rebooting. Same error as prior to rebooting.

If I create the share across disk19 and disk20 then it works, although only reports free space as the free space of disk20 (which was in the array already). For some reason even though the main screen of unRaid shows disk19 as 2TB free (i.e. empty, which it is), the Share functionality seems to think the disk is full.

I need the share on disk19, so need a solution!

Any suggestions?

Alex
