July 7, 201213 yr I precleared my 3 drives using ./preclear_disk.sh /dev/sda Ive now realized it should have been ./preclear_disk.sh /dev/sdA I precleared 3 times on WD green 2tb EARX, with no errors. Will this cause any issuees, im using version 4.7. Thanks

July 7, 201213 yr I believe you read that you should use ./preclear_disk.sh -A /dev/sda If you have either of these cases; No jumper and did not have unRAID set to use 4k-Aligned partitions or Jumper and unRAID set to 4k-Aligned Then you need to first move the partition before you using the disks. If necessary, I believe this is an option for the preclear script to just move the partition. I don't know offhand so try ./preclear_disk.sh -? and see what the help says.

Your instructions would be true IF he had a router that could use a jumper. That was ONLY one model, the "EARS" model. It does not apply to the "EARX" model. In any case, setting the drive to use 4k-aligned partitions is perfectly fine... If not 4k aligned, that is perfectly fine too with that model drive. No need to do anything once pre-cleared.

EARX is a 4k sector drive so using 4k-aligned will provide a performance improvement. If it doesn't accept a jumper then my second case is not valid but the rest of the post is still correct.
