August 3, 201213 yr Hello Everyone, I hope you can help me. I am trying to install the email package but with no success. My package manager seems to be out of date but I cant get it to update. I would really appreciate your help. I am running Version 4.7 of UnRaid and unMenu Version 1.5. I have pasted the text from the package manager below and attached my sys log: -------------------- C COMPILER Package URL: http://slackware.oregonstate.edu/slackware-12.2/slackware/d/gcc-4.2.4-i486-1.tgz Package File: gcc-4.2.4-i486-1.tgz md5 Checksum: 24d655b53bf29e97665e82445093828c (NOT matched - download may be corrupted or download URL no longer valid.) Memory Usage: Light (10K to 500K) Dependencies: Mail depends on ssmtp, a "sendmail" subset designed for outgoing mail only. "ssmtp" is part of this package. unfortunately, ssmtp is only available as source code. Therefore, you will need to install the compiler and development tools before you can install this package. ssmtp depends on open-ssl to be able to securely communicate to mail servers on TLS connections. syslog-2012-08-04.txt
August 5, 201213 yr I suspect you do not have any DNS server defined, since all the downloaded files do not contain the correct checksum. They probably contain text that says the URL cannot be found. What happens when you type: net lookup google.com what happens when you type: ping -c 5 google.com You must have both a DNS nameserver defined and a gateway defined. You apparently have the gateway defined as 192.168.1.254. That is unusual, as most routers would set themselves as 192.168.1.1 That might be the issue if incorrectly set, as it would be trying to get to the web through an non-exitstant gateway. In any case, in the settings of unRAID, you can usually set both the DNS server and the gateway to the IP address of your router. Joe L.
August 5, 201213 yr You apparently have the gateway defined as 192.168.1.254. AT&T DSL routers use that address by default.

August 5, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys, unfortunately that doesnt seem to be the issue as the r :-tests seem to have worked. any other ideas please? See below for the results of the lookup & ping tests: ------------------- Linux 2.6.32.9-unRAID. root@JOMS:~# net lookup google.com 209.85.143.100 root@JOMS:~# ping -c 5 google.com PING google.com (209.85.143.100) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from dy-in-f100.1e100.net (209.85.143.100): icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=54.5 ms 64 bytes from dy-in-f100.1e100.net (209.85.143.100): icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=54.6 ms 64 bytes from dy-in-f100.1e100.net (209.85.143.100): icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=56.0 ms 64 bytes from dy-in-f100.1e100.net (209.85.143.100): icmp_seq=4 ttl=53 time=55.7 ms 64 bytes from dy-in-f100.1e100.net (209.85.143.100): icmp_seq=5 ttl=53 time=55.9 ms --- google.com ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4036ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 54.552/55.381/56.054/0.678 ms root@JOMS:~#

See if you can open one with "mc" and learn the error. If it appears they are the size expected, then something is causing the MD5 checksum to fail. (it is possible they changed on the server)
August 7, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the reply Joe, Can you clarify what you want me to do and how to do it please. I have to admit I am fairly new to Linux Regards, John
