userone
I have a directory, that is two levels below my share on my unRAID server, that has completely disappeared from the share. I can navigate down one level, but the second level does not exist. Other directories are there, but this one is not. I tried to re-create it and I get an error....which makes me think the directory is still there. So, I shell in to my server and navigate all the drives (6 of them) that the share is spread over. Directory is solid and viewable (but empty) on all drives except for one. On the one drive, disk1, it appears RED in color and shows for owner, permissions, etc. What the heck does this mean? Is it damaged on this drive? If so, why only that directory? I've attached a screenshot for clarity. This is a really bizzare one to me. Link to comment
userone
Sure thing. I burrowed through it and couldn't find anything related to my disk (disk1) or the directory or read errors anywhere. syslog.txt Link to comment
dgaschk
Run reiserfsck --check. See my sig. Link to comment
userone
Phenomenal! The resiserfsck seemed to work, but had to run the --rebuild-tree option. Was holding my breath, given all the warnings around using that option. But, it seemed to fix the damaged data. So, absent any other indicator of problems on my drive, should I be concerned about this? Sign that my drive is failing? Or, just a bad sector on the drive? More importantly, why didn't unRAID handle this condition? If I lose an entire drive I can still operate. But, a damaged set of files on a drive and I lose a whole directory until I can repair the file system? Regardless, thanks so much for your help. I didn't even think it was a file system issue!
