August 22, 201213 yr On initial start of the array on a newly built server, what parity-sync speeds can be expected? Parity disc is 3 TB 7200rpm Hitachi, cache disc is 1 TB 7200 rpm Samsung, data-disks are 4x 1 TB 5400 rpm Green Samsungs. Motherboard X9SCM, Core i3-2100, 8 GB, disks are on a M1015(passthrough). Unraid runs in ESXi. Current parity sync speed is 42 MB/s at 5%. Seems rather slow am I right?
August 22, 201213 yr Author The cache drive shows as unformatted, does this impact parity-sync speeds? Should I manually format it?
August 22, 201213 yr Usually really slow while it formats etc. Could take some time to do that. Should then increase to well over 100MB/s with 7200rpm drives. Sent from my SGH-I727R using Tapatalk 2
August 22, 201213 yr Author Does the parity disk have to have a certain format? When it's precleared and then put to use as parity disk will data just be written to it? Or will the parity rebuild take care of formatting resulting in slower rebuild speeds?
August 22, 201213 yr Author Looks like the parity rebuild speed is capped at 42 MB/s. Now at close to 50 percent still 42 MB/s
