new permissions script (after upgrade) crashes - cannot access data (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just upgraded from 4.5 to 4.7 and everything was fine, so I went again to 5.0RC5.

The array started on it's on own after first boot (which I didn't think it was supposed to do), but I checked the drives against a screenshot from prior to the upgrade and all was right. I stopped the array and added the cache drive, then started the array and ran the "New Permissions" script as per the release notes.

It seems to start processing, but crashes just after mounting disk 2 (just after what you can see in the attached pic). The section of the webpage that shows progress then changes to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I have rebooted the server and tried again, but the same thing happens every time.

I cannot access any disk or user shares (including flash) at this time, except through the shares tab of unmenu.

I also note that two of my user shares (not disks) have orange balls next to them, but I cannot find any info on what this means. My drives all have green balls next to them, but I note that Disk 6 reports 9 errors (and is still green, not red). It is disk 2 however, that is the last thing I can see before the "new permisions" script crashes.

Not sure if it's related, but the webgui seems overly slow, with some pages requiring a refresh.

Syslog attached. Any ideas on what's wrong and how I can rectify?

Orange means there is some data on the Cache drive for that share that has not been moved to the Data drive by the mover script.

Thanks BRiT, that's a relief - one problem down!

I found a download link for RC6 in the forums so tried that, and the 'New Permissions' script was successful without crashing the browser. For the last few hours now I have had access to my shares, and reading and writing data seems fine.
