[Solved?] RC5 - ESXi - M1015, Adaptec 1430 - Parity Check errors galore!

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot; a moderator can move.

I have had a great running unRaid machine, and now tried moving it to ESXi, with RC5

I have an M1015 and an Adaptec 1430 passed through for my disks.

Everything booted up fine, could access my shares, etc.  Then I thought I would try a parity check (NOCORRECT).  And started to get lots of errors in my syslog (attached) and slow/crashed unraid.

Please have a look and let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Flash M1015 with the latest firmware P14 as yours is old (P12)

Make sure that the Unraid version you use does not have by itself problems with the LSI controllers.

Like to know if updating fw solved the problem.

Is it possible to update the M1015s firmware on a X9SCM?

had nothing to do with the M1015!  I don't just update firmware for the "fun" of it.  Should the errors have been tossed on the M1015 controller, then sure, may have been worth a try.

It was the passthrough to ESXi of the 1430SA... not sure if the card or motherboard, but once removed everything works great.
