Hi all,

 

After a year and a half of almost continuous operation, I finally had a fan freeze in one of my Kingwin KF-101 mobile racks.

 

If you are using the Kingwin KF-101 mobile racks, you can get replacement 50mm fans for $8.95 plus shipping at xPCgear.com.

 

I guess that this is cheaper than replacing the tray itself which runs around $15.00 plus shipping.

    Heh, I remember this subject from a year (!) ago.  We still have some early prototype systems which use those trays in the Lian-Li PC6077 case.  Most of the fans gave out in about a week.  I discovered that if you remove the fan and remove the top cover, the drives stay COOLER than when you have the fans running.  In fact, I think the fans do NOTHING to cool the drives. YMMV.
