I know that some of you have been able to set this up and was looking for some help. I just ran cable through the walls... man that was a pain in the ass   

 

So, I honestly can't believe that 360 won't stream VIDEO_TS files without third party software!!!!! So, I see that people are using T360.

 

1. I installed everything and my 360 and MCE can communicate.

2. I installed T360

3. I added folder '//tower/disk3' to the MY VIDEOS section.

4. When I goto Settings > More > transcode, it gives me the error 'can't que video'

 

Any help?!?! What am I doing wrong?

I know that XBMC/XBOX is not the same as the XBOX360, but I have no trouble playing VIDEO_TS files of my ripped dvds on my XBOX from my unRaid server.

 

My VIDEO_TS files are arranged as 1GByte VOB (VTS_01_1 and up) files with an IFO (VTS_01_0) front end file.

 

It could be the way that your VOB files are ripped. Some rippers make one big VOB file that cannot be played by some media clients.

 

Also, you may have to rip your DVDs as an ISO file to get them to play.

 

Just a thought.

i have some experience here, i too have a MCE2005 hooked up to my 360.

 

well, its really easy: the xbox360's video playback capability's have been limited (blocked or no codec present)

 

it can play mpeg2, so i could play dvd's, but it cant read vob's.

it prolly can be done with realtime transcoding (for this google transcode360), but expect lower quality.

 

little recap: u can only stream mpeg video (in mpeg or transport stream (TS) container) to your 360.

this can be dvd resolution or HDTV, as long as its mpeg.

every other thing much be transcoded 

 

 

there are some rumors, that because the PS3 is coming with divx/xvid support, the xbox 360 will be updated to support them as well (big `fall update)

I do have transcode 360 setup, but I get an error when trying to transcode something from the unRAID server.... I sure hope there is going to be an update... what morons for not including this!!!
