August 30, 200817 yr http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/30/0045257 Hans Reiser was today handed a prison sentence of 15-to-life for murdering his wife. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty and led police to his wife's body. His jury trial concluded in April with Reiser's first-degree murder conviction. That carries a 25-to-life term, but the authorities, in a backroom deal, later offered him 15-to-life if he produced his wife's body and waived any rights to appeal his conviction. Do you think UnRaid would move to a different filesystem after this news? ZFS Perhaps?
August 30, 200817 yr I think unRAID will still use the same file system. I believe this topic was already covered. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2172.0 Though the topic was started about something different and digressed into this topic.. Phil
August 30, 200817 yr Do you think UnRaid would move to a different filesystem after this news? ZFS Perhaps? Wow, he only got 15 years for killing someone, sometimes I question the way things are done. As far as unRAID moving to a different filesystem.. I think it will stay with the current filesystem until 1. It is no longer is supported or serves well enough. 2. Something better comes along. 3. We all scream for icecreamfs.. oh wait.. Umm, Maybe ext3.. LOL. (Actually for the points mentioned, reiser is serving good enough). Now as far as something better. ZFS has promise! ZFS: Ten reasons to reformat your hard drives http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1446/zfs_ten_reasons_to_reformat_your_hard_drives What I'm really interested in is .. Filesystem, heal thyself This is something I have not read before.
