March 10, 201313 yr According to posts in the Deals thread this is possible: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25675.msg223977#msg223977 if i am not mistaken, cant you remove teh dock and plug a standard sata and sata power connector into these and do your preclears before you pry them apart? Yep, the bottom pops off fairly easily without breaking anything or removing the drive. And here's a picture of the dock removed: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25675.msg224226#msg224226 I've been able to remove the dock from the drives with no problem exposing the SATA and power connectors. However, when connected to power and SATA on my Server, none of the HDD's are recognized. I've tried a couple of computers with different power supplies, different cables, etc. and they don't show up in BIOS or O/S. I've tried connecting another 2TB WD20EARS, I have laying around in the same way and it's fine. Anyone have any ideas?

For me, the cables I had wouldn't fit very well inside the housing. I used a knife to shave off part of the plastic for the power and the sata cable in order to be able to connect securely to the drive. Are you sure your cables are connected and fully seated to the drive and not just snug in the plastic case?

Thanks, I just looked at this and tried to connect a SATA cable in the light and I see it's getting hung up on the plastic on the SATA connector against the plastic housing around the opening on the drive. The power connector looks ok, though. I'll have to see if I can shave off some of the plastic on the SATA cable.
March 10, 201313 yr Author I'll have to see if I can shave off some of the plastic on the SATA cable. That worked for one, now I need to see if I can find 2 more SATA cables that are long enough without locking tabs since those are getting in the way.
