Intel D945GCLF2 (Atom 330) build completed

Featured Replies

Built up a unRAID system using the D945GCLF2, an old Antec ATX case, a 2GB DDR2 stick, a Promise TX4 300, and 3 WD 1TB GP drives.  Used my old Supermicro 5-in-3 hotswap bay for the drives.

Standby power is around 55W, with case and drive cage fans going.  The power supply is what used to be in the server for a 5x250GB RAID 5 array, and the pf is a horrible .55 or so.  Looking to drop in a small power supply, maybe 75W or so, and hopefully it'll be a bit more efficient.

Cool, thanks for the update, let us know how the new power supply works out.

While I'm a big proponent of not buying oversized power supplies, 75W seems a bit small. I'd go with 90W just to be safe.

Can you share your transfer rates read and write?

Thanks

I'm considering this mobo for a really small home media NAS. Any problems getting the RealTek NIC up?

  • 2 months later...

A bit late for a reply maybe, but I have just complete a build with the same mobo and everything works just fine.  Of course, with only 2 SATA-2 ports onboard, a PCI card is required.  The board seems to be able to handle the job quite well.

Not sure if it's of interest to anyone, but I have documented my build (and another one) here:

Hello,

Does anybody know if the NIC card can run in gigabit mode (aka MTU>1500) ?  So far I haven't been able to set large MTU whether under Linux or FreeBSD.
