October 3, 200619 yr The only change between -beta5 and -beta4 is some improved interrupt handling code in an effort to solve dma/irq time-out problems. A handful of beta testers have this code, but you are welcome to download and try it yourself. If you have experienced dma/irq timeout errors in the syslog, then I'd be interested in your results with -beta5. These problems appear to be drive/controller specific. For example, certain Seagate drives on a Promise IDE controller seem to be more prone to this. In fact, I'd be very interested in any dma/irq timeout error which doesn't involve a Seagate drive on a Promise controller. If you see a dma/irq timeout error, I'd like to know: - the release you're running - your motherboard model - model of any PCI controller cards - model of drive which error is associated with
