Tomm...what's with beta-5?

Featured Replies

Tomm,

I noticed the beta-5 when I went to download beta-4....should I wait on 4 till your officially release 5?

Thanks

The only change between -beta5 and -beta4 is some improved interrupt handling code in an effort to solve dma/irq time-out problems.  A handful of beta testers have this code, but you are welcome to download and try it yourself.

If you have experienced dma/irq timeout errors in the syslog, then I'd be interested in your results with -beta5.  These problems appear to be drive/controller specific.  For example, certain Seagate drives on a Promise IDE controller seem to be more prone to this.  In fact, I'd be very interested in any dma/irq timeout error which doesn't involve a Seagate drive on a Promise controller.

If you see a  dma/irq timeout error, I'd like to know:

- the release you're running

- your motherboard model

- model of any PCI controller cards

- model of drive which error is associated with
