Kill process python due to low memory, any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi all, keep getting a problem with unraid killing python due to low memory, it seems to be related to sabnzbd trying to extract a movie, could it be a bad nzb? Is there a way to restart python, or stop sabnzbd extracting the file, or change the priority so it doesn't kill python? I'm running 5rc12a

How much memory is in your system ?  Restart with the mem=4096 bootoption and try again.. Having to much high memory limits your low memory.. Also there are a few sabnzbd options that limit memory use, try them..

Thans for the reply, 4gb installed however it does say max 128mb in system info (simple features), how do I start with the boot option, I'm assuming I put something in my go file?

Mmmm... if you have 4gb I do not think it will work.. you might just really be doing to much... Make sure you set the memory saving options in sabnzbd... if you want to try the boot option, it is an option that shows up at boot, so you need a monitor and keyboard on your system and a reset..

Gave that a go, no luck, have narrowed it down a little... When it is unpacking a file in sabnzbd it seems to get to a point where it says moving... Then it kills python, could this be because its copying the file into memory? I'm definitely running sabnzbd off my cache drive though....

Does not matter where it is running from if it is using a temp file in the RAM file-system.  (and running out of space there)  There might be a setting for the working directory where it unpacks files.

Tried extracting the file in mc, but it crashed out aswell! Now trying to do it from a windows pc 49%, kind of hoping it fails, least then I know it's down to a dodgy file!

These are my settings, check them out:

Folders, temporary download folder:

 /mnt/temp/incomplete/sabnzbd

(this is a share in the array that I have set cache only, so it downloads to my ssd)

Completed download folders:

/mnt/temp/completed/series and /mnt/temp/completed/movies

(these directories are monitored by sickbeard and couchpotato, they will move the video files to /mnt/movies and /mnt/series (those are regular array shares)

Switches / Queue:

Pause Downloading During Post-Processing switched on.

(makes the system impact a bit lower, I noticed that when using the array heavily having this off would cause stuttering)

Only get Articles for Top of Queue switched on

(uses less memory)
