May 5, 201313 yr Hey everyone, I'm just looking around on how to install screen on unraid 5.0-rc12a. The instructions on the wiki say I need to do it from another computer using the browser. It says to select 'Pkg Manage'. I don't see it. I've also done a lot of digging around and from what I've read(I think) that you have to do it from the command now in version 5. Is that correct? Is there a step by step instructions somewhere? I've found this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15707.0 But I'm not quite sure how to follow it correctly. Sorry if this question has been asked before.

These are the instructions I was referring to that say you install screen from the web browser using 'Pkg Manager'(which doesn't exist).
May 5, 201313 yr You need to install UnMenu first... which is the prior step in the instructions... Then if you connect into UnMenu using http://tower:8080 you will see the Package Manager menu item. hth TheWombat
May 5, 201313 yr Instructions to install Screen for unRAID 5, without using any plug-ins 1) Download screen-4.0.3-i486-3.txz from http://packages.slackverse.org/?r=slackware-current&p=screen-4.0.3-i486-3.txz or another repository you trust 2) Download libelf-0.8.13-i486-2.txz from http://packages.slackverse.org/?r=slackware-current&p=libelf-0.8.13-i486-2.txz or another repository you trust 3) Download utempter-1.1.5-i486-1.txz from http://packages.slackverse.org/?r=slackware-current&p=utempter-1.1.5-i486-1.txz or another repository you trust 4) If it does not exist, make a folder called 'extra' (without the quotes) on your unRAID USB-stick 5) Place the 3 downloaded files in the extra folder (see step 4) on your unRAID USB-stick 6) Reboot the unRAID server using the web-interface (or start it with the unRAID USB-stick installed)
May 5, 201313 yr Rather than install the packages manually I would suggest doing the installation through UnMenu. If you are unfamiliar with UnRaid/Linux you will find this easier for the future. In the Configuration Tutorial I linked to above you need to: Install UnMENU Step 1 Log into your UnRAID server as root via a telnet connection or at the console. Step 2 At the prompt type cd /boot/unmenu Step 3 At the prompt type ./unmenu_install -i -d /boot/unmenu The script will download the files needed and place them in the appropriate location. Step 4 To start UnMENU, at the prompt type ./uu You will be dumped right back to a prompt, this is normal. Step 5 To enable UnMENU to run on reboot, at the prompt type echo "/boot/unmenu/uu" >> /boot/config/go Having UnMenu installed will then make life easier. Install Screen Step 1 Install UnMenu if it is not already installed. Step 2 From another computer on the network open a web browser and navigate to //tower:8080 Substitute your server's name or IP address for tower. Step 3 At the top of the screen select Pkg Manager. Step 4 Scroll down (close to the bottom) and click Select screen-4.03-i486-1.tgz. Step 5 Click Download screen-4.03-i486-1.tgz. The status will change to "Package downloaded, but not yet installed". Step 6 Click Install screen-4.03-i486-1.tgz. You will see a report of the commands run and the status will change to "screen-4.0.3-i486-1.tgz is now installed". Step 7 Click Enable Re-Install on Re-Boot so screen will be re-installed on every reboot. Done! TheWombat
