[SOLVED]clean powerdown

Featured Replies

Hi,

in go file i mount a usb disk with ntfs-3g.

Mysql, denyhosts and an other pc at network uses that disk.

Clean powerdown 1.02 is intalled

Using apcupsd.

do i have to do anything else (stop mysql, unmount usbdisk etc) to make sure that powerdown procedure is safe? Asking for both power loss scenario and manual shutdown?

Yes, you do need to stop mySQL and un-mount the disk before powering down.

The "clean-powerdown" does NOT stop your add-ons.  It KILLS them so they no longer hold files open.  (very different)

Apcupsd does NOT cleanly stop anything either.    It is coded to invoke /sbin/powerdown if it exists, that again KILLS processes holding disks from being un-mounted s the array can be stopped cleanly.

YOU must add logic where needed to cleanly stop your add-ons if they themselves aren't tied into the "event" system in 5.X

Thank you for your great help.

i create necessery files for mounting usb drive (instead of go file) and unmounting it. i figure out that mysql already have but i have some problem with cache directories. if you have time i m glad to hear from you:

cache_dirs DOES stop itself, but I found it is not possible to interrupt an individual "find" command within it, so any given "find" that is in progress must complete before it will stop itself.  You must just be patient.  cache_dirs checks in between each "find" command to see if the array is being stopped and automatically suspends itself.  Do not get fooled by the comment about pressing "Stop" twice.  That comment/logic is there and necessary for those with older versions of unRAID. (pre 4.5 I think)
