disk changes

Featured Replies

Trying to add disks (2) to the array of the same size as all the other drives.  Assuming they needed to be cleared first I plugged them in and let the system do its thing.  Unfortunately they were automatically added to the array as data disks.

I am trying to move one into the parity position but have not found a way to do so.  The install is basic, no customizations, two new 100% empty drives.  Near zero linux knowledge.

Suggetstions?

If it helps anyone this is what I see.  Notice there is no button labeled "restore"

Set the disk you want to move to Parity to "Unassigned". Then click the Parity drive and choose the one you have now free'd up.

Tried this, the system just reconfigured the locations after reboot.

You need to do a "New Config" on the Settings page (under Disk Settings).

Just to be certain

I first change the disk relationships in the main window.  After doing this I use "NewConfig" under settings correct?

The only disk that will be wiped out if you set a new config is the one you assign as the parity disk.    So do NOT assign a disk that has valid data on it as parity !!  Otherwise, the disks will not lose any of their current data.
